I was reading along and enjoying this newsletter so much, thinking how much it resonated with me and there was my name! I loved this Claudia and thank you so much for the mention. I loved the Alys Fowler book and Mudlarking too. We're at the beach at the minute and the canals are struggling for water in the UK as it's been hot and dry for weeks. Have a lovely weekend 😎🩷

My pleasure, Karen, I'm so glad you enjoyed this post! 🥰 I had a feeling it might resonate with you. Thanks for reading!

The beach makes for a nice change, I imagine, especially when the canals struggle for water. We have some friends over for a long weekend and plan for a day at the beach of the North Sea as well. Have a lovely weekend too, Karen! 🩷

Thank you for sharing this lovely journey with us, Claudia 🙏 I live on an island without rivers, but instead we have burns and lochs, which hold their own quiet magic. During my time living on the Scottish mainland though, I was lucky to live near the River Clyde and then the River Dee, and I think of them often. There’s a kind of comfort in those waters that stays with you.

When I saw The Pull of the River on your list, I immediately thought of Karen’s posts too, it’s wonderful how these stories connect us through rivers, adventure, and reflection.

Your memories of childhood play by the river and your canoeing adventures brought back many warm feelings. That mix of joy, calm, and challenge in nature is something that shapes us deeply 🌊🛶🥰

Thank you so much reading, Dana, and for your lovely comment! 🥰 You are right, it's wonderful how these stories connect us and also how we are shaped so deeply by these experiences in nature. It's interesting to revisit these memories from time to time and to unexpectedly find a new perspective.

Your island sounds really special! I can imagine a wonderfully quiet magic with lochs and burns. 🩷 Have a calm and beautiful weekend! 🌿☀️

Beautiful, Claudia! I also love rivers (and canals) - they are my favourite places to walk. There’s a thing called the Thames Path here in London and my aim is to walk the whole thing (although not in one go!) I’ve been to Alster Lake in Hamburg and your photo of the river is so beautiful. I will look up your book recommendations too. Have you read ‘Is A River Alive?’ by Robert Macfarlane? It’s on my list to read.

Thank you, Victoria! Oh, I'd love to walk the Thames Path, what a great aim. Have you started it yet?

Oh, you've been to Hamburg and Alster Lake? That's lovely! Should you ever be near again, it would be so nice to meet. 🤗

The book is on my reading list too and I'm very much looking forward to reading it. It's such an interesting aspect! (Maybe there will be another post on all the aspects that didn't find a place in this one. Let's see. 😄)

I’ve done a little bit of it in Docklands but that’s all so far. If you’re ever in London, let me know and we will do a bit of the Thames Path together. 😁 I was in Hamburg just for a day last September and we drove around the lake as part of a city tour. It was looking very autumnal and pretty, and I would love to go back and explore it properly. I will definitely let you know if I’m back there. It would be lovely to meet. ☺️

That's a lovely idea to walk a bit of it together. I'd like that very much. 😊 I definitely have to figure out a way to visit London again next year or so, it really has been too long. Last time I've been to London was 2014. 🙈

So, you let me know and I let you know, perfect! Let's hope we can make it happen. 🥰
