Aaah, what have you done? Now I need to buy all the Greenland books! ;) But seriously, I can totally understand the fascination. I once flew over Greenland on the way to the US and it was just an endless mass of white. Sometimes I look at it on Google maps and imagine what it's like to live there! Thanks for the recommendations, and I hope you have had nice Christmas days with lots of books!
Sorry for that! 😄 I'm currently waiting for another Greenland book from the library, about Alfred Wegener's expeditions in 1929/30. I'm glad you can understand my fascination! Wow, that must have been an amazing view!
Thank you, I am reading just one book at the moment (very unlike me) 😄, it's a very fascinating one about octopuses 🐙, but I used the time trying to decide which books to buy from the book money I got for Christmas. 😁 I hope, you had a calm and bookish Christmas as well!
Sounds great! Again like you, I am also fascinated by octopuses! But in contrast to you, I am now reading 6? 7? books at a time. I made the mistake to look for all the books that I started at some point this year but then abandoned (probably because I was busy), and realised many of them are actually quite nice... and now I need to finish them all!
Wow, 6 or 7? Very impressive! Are you planning to finish them all this year??? 📚📚 Well, in that case you might have to learn to also read while having dinner. 😉
I just noticed that you changed the name of your blog. I'm on my way over to explore what you are planning next. 😀
I think I will totally not finish them all this year... I'm quite a slow reader! I just plan to finish them all *at some point* because they are all definitely worth reading...
Happy that you noticed already :) I'll write a post about the changes soon.
Currently I’m rereading Wintering by Katherine May and I love it again 😊. And maybe you like Weathering from Ruth Allen (a lot of geology in there) or Sorry I’m late, I didn’t want to come: An Introvert’s Year of living Dangerously by Jessica Pan.
Thank you so much, Hilda, for your recommendations! 🧡 Wintering has been mentioned so often to me lately, a book so much loved and reread by many, a must-read then, great! 😊 Perfect, Weathering is already in my shopping-basket! A good choice then. ☺️ I'll check out the last one, sounds very interesting. She is on Substack, too, isn't she?
I'd also love your recommendations on Dutch writers, if you have any for me? Years ago I read books by Margriet de Moor and loved those by Maarten 't Hart, but admittedly, I haven't read much (or anything) from the Netherlands for years. Such a shame!
Oooo. I'm always pleased to meet another Richard Osman fan. I've read all of the Thursday Murder books and, like you, I enjoyed We Solve Murders. Now, I'm off to check out the link you attached to check out the movie adaptation cast!
Ha! Casting never matches my imagination. But I think their choices are amusing. Jonathan Pryce as Stephen will bring on the waterworks for me. I’m looking forward to it!
I get what you mean, they usually don't match mine either. But this time, I was quite pleased because I've always envisioned Helen Mirren and Ben Kingsley in their respective roles while reading the books. (First time ever that the casting choices met my vision. 😄 Please, don't mess it up, people! 🤣 ) And I can totally imagine Jonathan Pryce as Stephen, what a marvellous idea!

Have a nice weekend!
Well, I definitely like what you've written in the About section so far. 💚😊 Looking forward to your posts.
Thank you, you too!

Oh, tell me what you think about the casting choices! Does the main cast match your vision?
