So beautifully written Claudia💟 The first snowflakes are a magical moment for me❄️☃️ I am a birdlover, especially the small blue/ yellow tits, so cute. I like watching from the window when the « dig in» the goodies. E.T is a very funny name for a cat, love it. I am going back to Norway in around 10 days. Hopefully to more real winter than here in Stralsund. And its nice to get home to my son and his dog for Christmas🙂

Thank you, Tony! 💕 I also never tire of watching the birds at the bird feeder, whether from the window or from our bench on the patio, which is positioned to give the best view of the feeding station and the bird bath, of course. 😄 There's often so much traffic and like you said, they really "dig in the goodies".

I'm sure there's definitely a much better chance of snow and real winter in Norway than here in Northern Germany. I'd LOVE a real winter with lots of snow again. Enjoy your time in Norway with your son, his dog, real winter and Christmas! (Although I have a feeling we will write before Christmas again, so no Merry Christmas wishes yet. 😉)

Thank you Claudia💟🌟 It’s a bit twisted feeling to leave my dear Oliver and go home😔 but I will be back in February. Of course we will write🫶🏻

I can imagine that you have mixed feelings about leaving and going home. It can't be easy to live apart from each other. 😔 All the better to know when you'll be back. 💕

Lately, the only birds we've been seeing are magpies, crows and ravens. I wonder where all the small birds have gone? In any case it's nice to have them come and visit every day, I must buy them some extra special treats for Christmas, I was thinking of scrumptious pecans - mostly because I like them too! Wishing you many delightful days of bird watching over the holidays.

Thank you, Cheryl! I hope the small birds turn up soon. Great idea to buy some extra special treats you also enjoy. 😇

Thank you for sharing these beautiful glimpses, Claudia 🙏 We had some snow here in Scotland a couple of weeks ago; it’s gone now as temperatures have risen... but I have a feeling it’ll be back soon! Wishing you a December full of slow mornings, warm hands, and small wonders ❄️🌄☕

Thank you Claudia for such a lovely heart warming post! I love birds and share your passion for feeding and watching them through my window. A flock of long tailed tits came this week which I was so excited about. I would so love a day of snow; as a child we had it every year but now it is on my wish list for sure. Love your neighbours cat in the compost! X✨🌙🐈‍⬛

Thank you so much, Clare! 😊 Oh, that sounds great! I've never seen them here before. Isn't it wonderful to encounter something new every now and then? Even in small spaces? I definitely share your passion and excitement. ✨☺️

I wish you all the best and keep my fingers crossed that the snow will find its way to you soon! 🌨️🌨️🌨️☃️

Thank you, Sophie! 🪶I can imagine it must have been amazing to discover so many new and different birds when moving from Europe to New Zealand. 😍

That's been the best part of moving here!

A beautiful post Claudia and I loved the pics of the colours in the garden. Today was a beautiful day here, bright sunshine, blue sky and even warmth in the sun. Happy December 🙂💚

Thank you, Karen! That sounds lovely. A day of sunshine in these darker months is very much appreciated. ☀️🙂

Oh wow, quite a lot of snow! Too bad it disappeared so quickly! Coincidentally, I started feeding the birds again two weeks ago. They notice it so quickly. I wonder how. The blue tits and great tits pick out the seeds they don't like and throw them on the ground. For the birds that scurry around on the ground 😊 It's a very funny sight! I sometimes see green woodpeckers in my garden, much less often than the great spotted woodpecker. They are indeed beautiful! I also see a lot of jays. They are still hiding acorns for the winter.

And your garden is still so colorful! I really need to start looking for that. I think my Christmas rose is gone, unfortunately.... Happy December Claudia, with hopefully a lot of birds and maybe some more snow.... ❄🙏🤍

Thank you, Hilda! 😊 Wow, your garden sounds even more amazing every time you write a bit more about it. 😍😀 Also, with so many animals living there and the chance to watch them. Lovely stories, thanks for sharing them! The throwing seeds on the ground thing happens here too. Blue tits, great tits and sparrows have some clear preferences. The pair of pigeons, however, is happy to step in and pick up the leftovers. 😄

Ha, yes they are! And so are the blackbirds and sparrows. Although the latter sometimes try to take seeds from the feed silo themselves 😄
