Gosh, Claudia, you've experienced so much in a few short weeks! It does seem that stepping away from the screen allows you more time to really live. I'm so proud of you ♥

Aww, thank you, Cheryl! That's so kind of you to say. 💗 Yes, that's exactly how it feels: more time to really live. I'm so happy about the experiences so far and I'll go into the next month with joy. I feel something is shifting for the better. 🌿

Thank you, Sophie, that’s so kind! I've really come to love it and I’ll keep going in March. So much to explore and try away from screens.

Thanks for the fieldfare videos. I lived in the UK for 6 years and became a fan of them. They are lovely in a subtle way.

They are, aren’t they? Glad you enjoyed my little videos, Dawn. 😊

Oh, how wonderful to share in your analogue life, Claudia! I would love to have more of that too! More time for creativity (those ice hangers! 🤍), more time to be outside or look outside, more time to read, more time for wonder.... And you had so much snow to enjoy in February! You can really feel that spring is on its way now. The days are getting longer and I can hear so many more birds. Thank you for mentioning me, how sweet of you. I wonder what March will bring. Enjoy it, Claudia! ✨🌷🌱

I'm looking forward to spring now, too, and I'm quite delighted to find the first snowdrops in the garden. It will go fast now, I presume, weather forecast talks about 16°C later this week. Let's see if they are right. 🌷😊 Enjoy March and a lovely spring, Hilda! ✨

I love everything about this. And I'm drooling with envy ~ ironically one of the reasons why I wanted to be a teacher was so I wasn't stuck behind a computer screen all day. Well, I can tell you now that these days, it's all about Google Classroom and using every tool under the Google Empire.

Le sigh.

The cookie cutter idea was absolute genius! My friend in Northern Cal has been at home without electricity for 4 days ~ they've got the generator going and the woodstove burning 24/7. And I just love the idea of snuggling down, laying low, being forced to slow down and enjoy life. I'm so glad you're doing this Claudia. xo

Thank you, Lani! 💗 Well, sometimes it can be a good thing to be kind of forced to slow down and all, to enjoy a simpler life. (Not sure about being without electricity, though, as we don't have a woodstove or a generator, but I get your point. 😄)

Doesn't sound fun at all to be a teacher these days under these circumstances. I can relate so much as I've never wanted an office job / desk job / computer screen job either (or at least not one where I'll have to do it all day). My last job as a librarian changed so much in the seven years I've worked there that I didn't even recognize it. Instead of engaging with people all day (and books, of course), I was stuck in the office all day only working on administrative tasks, writing concepts and reports that no one would ever look at, applying for funding, writing even more reports. I felt chained to my desk and it wasn't the multifaceted job I loved so much when I started.

Hmmm. I wonder what other jobs have transformed over the years too. I fear we aren’t the only ones to experience this!

P.S. Thanks for the inspiration ~ ended up out and about all day on Sunday, no computer!

Claudia Kollschen's avatar

Amazing, Lani, so glad to hear that. I hope you enjoyed it!

Yes, I fear that transformation has affected a lot of jobs, and I'm not sure if that's such a good development.

Another lovely post, Claudia. I have done a similar journey with deleting lots of apps from my phone. I try to check Facebook just once a week now, instead of several times a day. I rarely miss much. I loved your photos of the ice shapes. Yes, nature is so restorative and healing. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I’m sure it encourages many people to do likewise, which can only be good news for our collectively overstimulated brains these days.

Thank you, I'm so glad it resonated with you! Interesting, isn't it, that we don't miss these apps with all their news and messages we thought were so important once we decide to delete the apps or check them less often? It's as if a spell has been broken. So good to take control back over our attention, energy and time.

What a lovely interesting month you've had Claudia! I love the idea of having a particular focus at the start of each month; keeping a kind of loose focus doesn't seem too harsh (like perfectionism does) and I'm going to try it. Wishing you a beautiful weekend 💫💛

Claudia Kollschen's avatar

Thank you, Karen! It was an interesting month indeed, and I learned quite a lot about myself along the way. (Always valuable, isn't it?) I really enjoyed being in and doing more in real life, even if that meant that I wrote less. Some times are for living and I feel this is what I need at the moment. 😊 Wishing you a lovely Sunday! 💛

I adore this post, Claudia! I am so happy for you that you could take so much time offline, and that you used this time in such a valuable & lovely way. Who said being offline isn't productive?! Wishing you a wonderful rest of your winter!!! 💖

Thank you very much, Csermely, so kind of you! 💕 I've found out that being offline is in fact more productive (and often more fun). 😄 Wishing you a beautiful Sunday! 🌿
